Industrial Scale Precious Metals Recovery
Industrially, precious metals are used for hydroformylation, production of acetic acid, and many areas of hydrocarbon refining. Metals we most frequently work with at platinum, rhodium, palladium and ruthenium - although we have worked with most process metals in the past. Most of these metals are recovered, but a small fraction is lost, especially in low concentration streams. It is just not financially feasible with traditional incineration or extraction technologies to process streams below 10 ppm economically. Even more concentrated streams often require highly energy intensive concentration for many technologies to work effectively.
Using 2008 numbers, roughly $510m of platinum is lost in the commodity chemical industry alone. Industrially in low concentration streams across the chemical, petroleum and other industrial PhosphonicS estimates $1.5bn of recoverable metal is being lost.
Our materials will allow the economic recover of these low concentration industrial streams. Whether within a chemical, petroleum or mining application we can identify process including downstream refining that will allow for economic recovery of low concentration streams. Plus see our case studies for examples of previous completed projects.
